Whew! October is almost here! Actually, depending on when you are reading this it may already be here. But I am posting this on September 30 so for me, it isn't here yet!
As you can tell we survived the baby sitting of GK #2. We actually had a great time. Sunday was one of the happier days. His parents showed up and took him home. We both crashed very quickly. We have some great pictures on the camera!
Last weekend was our 21st Anniversary. We went to the Melting Pot for dinner Friday night. Had a great time. I love fondue, I just don't like to make it at home because I hate all the preparation and clean up. So any time I can get some one else to do all the work, I jump at it. Have some great pictures on the camera. Not a Grampy and I do clean up pretty well.
Sunday we went canoeing on the Hillsborough River. I had never been canoeing before so our 2 hour jaunt down the river was a new experience for me. (Not a Grampy may have gotten a little frustrated with me) I kept forgetting that I was supposed to be paddling, especially when we were slamming into the bank of the river...
We saw some fantastic scenery, just looking at what our area looked like 100 years ago was amazing. Saw lots of birds, heron, blue herons, little itty bitty birds, even a gator or two. The highlight was sitting in the front of the canoe and hearing "swoosh, swoosh" and looking up and seeing a Bald Eagle flying over the top of our heads. He landed in the tree ahead of us. As we passed by the tree, he took off and landed in a tree ahead of us again. He did this two or three times. I hadn't seen a Bald Eagle that close since we lived in Kodiak. Again, I got some Fantastic pictures.
I would post all the wonderful pictures that I took. Well, maybe not all of them but at least one or two....if I could.
It seems our card reader on our computer ate all the pictures off of the card and won't give them back.
Every. Single. One.
Time for a new camera.
Not a Grampy says we just need a new reader.
Pffttt...he wasn't the one looking hot on our Anniversary!

I'm Still Here!
Nope, I haven't washed away. In fact, due to the awesomeness that is Not a Grampy and I, GK#2 has not played in the toilet once yet.
As of this moment, we have 23 hours and 57 minutes and odd seconds until daughter and SIL return home.
How has it really been?
Not as bad as I expected. Although, I do miss my queen size Tempurpedic mattress. The double sized guest bed that the little angel is sleeping in is not all that comfortable. (no, I am not getting a new mattress for that room. It is the guest room, we live in Florida. We don't want guests to be too comfortable).
Yes, I do sleep with the little angel. Only because the guest room has it's own bathroom and I don't want a repeat of what happened to daughter.
The child does not sleep quietly. Not only does he talk in his sleep, he flips over, sleeps sideways, kicks, hits, and is generally a bed hog.
23 hours, 53 minutes and 56 seconds!

I May Need a Life Jacket
Tomorrow is the day.
GK #2 will be dropped off at 7am.
This morning at 7:30 am his mother calls me as I am driving to work.
It seems the angel below likes to play in toilets.
In fact, he likes to fill the toilet with the toilet paper roll and then flush it.....repeatedly.
He flooded her bathroom, which in turn flooded her bedroom.
She says there is standing water on the carpet.
It's going to be a long 4 days.

In 9 days I will have the pleasure and privilege of babysitting my two year old grandson for 4 days. His mom and dad are going on a cruise!
Now, I know his mother is kind of worried about this. He is a great escape artist. He loves to lock people in rooms, or lock them out of rooms.
I keep telling her that she has nothing to worry about. I am taking two days off of work and that Saturday Not a Grampy will be home also.
Besides, we bought extra duct tape!

April is Busy
Wow, April is almost over! Woo Hoo! It is such a busy month at our house. It seems everyone and their Uncles have birthdays or anniversaries. On top of all of that, it is an extremely busy time at work with several of our major funding sources requiring grants submitted.
Yup, GK #2 turned 2 last week. We actually celebrated the weekend before since we were all going to be in Daytona Beach at the Speedway.

Out of the Mouths of Babes
Yesterday we celebrated the one year anniversary of GK #2's adoption. Just Not a Grampy, my daughter, SIL, and the guest of honor., GK #2.
We had a wonderful dinner, dessert, fun times playing with the child.
He is a very active 23 month old child. Lots of running and playing, testing the limits.
He is talking a lot also. He has a favorite word...
Shit..
No, we are not misunderstanding him. He says if very clearly and often.
It is so hard not to laugh when he says it. He looks you right in the face and says "Shit". Then he laughs.
Now, I know he has no clue what he is saying. We try really hard not to react. But it is so hard not to laugh.
So we are trying to ignore it.
I am waiting for the phone call from daughter, crying and laughing because he said his favorite word in the grocery store at some elderly woman admiring him, or at the doctors office when the nurse is weighing him.

Gotcha Day
Once there were two women who never knew each other..
One you do not remember, the other you call mother.
Two different lives, shaped to make You one...
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.
The first gave you life and the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love, and the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name.
One gave you a seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.
One gave you up ... that's all she could do.
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me, through your fears,
the age old question unanswered throughout the years...
Heredity or environment .. Which are you the product of..
Neither, my darling .. neither..
just two different kinds of love.

Sunday Notes
Well, here it is Sunday. Not A Grampy is fixing lasagna for dinner! Woo Hoo!! Home made lasagna, he makes the best!!

GK #1 was able to spend sometime with daughter and GK#2 over the holidays. They even gave him a mohawk. Not my favorite hairstyle on him!
And of course, the two boys, love each other. GK #2 beats the crap out of GK#1. Luckily, #1 is very patient and puts up with it. Even when he shouldn't!!

Mail Man Was Here!
Woo Hoo!! I got presents! I am loved!
I went to check the mail today and look what I got!!!!!
(My camera is broken, so I had borrow this picture from Mr. Fab)
That's right, my very own penis bracelet! I just can't get over the attention to detail that went into the sculpting of the penis. It even has an itty, bitty, tiny eye!
Thanks Mr. Fab!! I will treasure it always!!
*********************************************************************************
Now, for another matter. I am a tad bit irritated over this. How could my daughter, the mother of GK#2, go out of her way to show me up? To show how much better she is than me? Tell me that. What kind of daughter, who supposedly loves her mother would do such a thing? And then brag about it all over the world? Hmm..what kind of daughter treats her mother that way?
Especially, after everything I have done for her!
Yup, she did the Christmas Knowledge Test and got 10 out of 10! How can she know more about Christmas than me? I taught her everything about Christmas. Without me, she would have been a Christmas Scroogette! Hmmm...Not even credit, not even a "Thanks Mom" Well that is gratitude for you. Just wait til Santa hears!!

Invisible Passenger?
While driving home from work one night this week I noticed the passenger seat belt light blinking off and on.
Now, I knew I was alone in the car, but I had to glance over into the passenger seat anyway, just to be sure that someone hadn't snuck in while I wasn't looking.
Nope, no one there. But the damn light was still blinking. I look at the seat again, just a manila folder with 3 sheets of paper and my purse.
Hmm...my purse. Could it be? No, you have to weigh like a gagillion pounds to get the damn thing to blink, right?
Let's see, what is in my purse. It is rather smallish, only about 8 inches high by 8 inches wide. Made out of some straw shit from Cambodia. Inside, I have a couple of pens, 2 sets of car keys (yes two, one set is for the office, the other is the car key and house key) No, I don't need to put the key in the car to start it...sheesh does anybody do that anymore?
What else, cigarettes, lighter, name tag, lipstick, chap stick, 2 personal hygiene products (yeah watch it, it is that time of the month), cell phone and my wallet.
Holy shit, do you have any idea the amount of change in my wallet or h ow much that weighs?
Okay, I have now cleaned it out, let's see what happens on the drive to work!
Now leave the contents of my purse alone (voyeurs!) and go visit my daughter at Can't Stand the Madness. She has pictures of GK #2! You all want to see his pictures, because he is so cute. She even has some pictures of GK #1. Go! Now! Leave her a comment!!

Desktop?
I didn't participate in that whole show me your desk, that was going around a while ago. I really didn't want everyone to know how messy I really am.
Look, you can kind of see the Desktop!
And now for the Desktop itself! (it is much neater than my actual desk)
Now, if you want to join us and show off your Desktop, please do! You don't have to show the actual desk, unless you want us to make fun of you!

My Daughter is a wonderful mother..
I had the honor of having dinner at my daughter's house this evening. She lives about 1 1/2 hours from my house, but only 45 minutes from where I work. So I try to swing up to her house at least once a week to visit for a little bit.
Spend some time with her and with GK #2. Her hubby works out of the state Monday thru Friday and Not A Grampy works nights. So it is nice to have time with just us girls. (well, GK #2 is a male, but he is only 17 months so that doesn't count).
I was watching her tonight playing with GK #2. I was absolutely amazed to see this amazing, wonderful young woman interacting with her child. I kept thinking about her when she was born, 26 years ago, when she was this age. I was remembering different parts of her life as she grew and I was thrilled that she was going to be able to experience all these wonderful times with her son.
I listened to her sing the songs to her son that I sang to her when she was a baby. With the same out of tune, screechy voice that I have. And just like she did, he looked at his mom like she was the most wonderful singer in the world.
I am so proud of my daughter and SIL. As I posted earlier, GK #2 is the result of a private adoption and to the birth mother, again, I say Thank You.
And to my daughter...I Love You, You have brought more sunshine into my life than I could ever imagine there being!!

UPDATE ON PRAYERS NEEDED
My co-workers daughter came out of surgery pretty good. Every bone in her face was crushed and they are working on rebuilding it. Her jaw is wired shut. She has been removed from ICU and is being weaned off of the heavy pain meds. She is still on morphine. (I didn't know there was anything stronger than morphine). She was also taken off of the ventilator but still has the trachea tube. She has requested her cell phone and her parents have increased their text minutes on their plan so she can communicate with her friends!
Thank you for your prayers and I will keep you updated. She really isn't out of the woods yes.
