It snowed in Wenatchee, Washington last Sunday. Big, fat, wet snowflakes that stuck to the ground. Several bloggers have posted pictures of the snow that has swept across their homes, towns the last few weeks.
It was a weird winter and this Spring hasn't been much better. Even here in Florida, my pool is barely getting to a temperature that is comfortable for me. It is middle of April, for God's sake and I still don't have a tan!
Whether you buy into the whole Global Warming thing or not, you need to be aware that something is happening. Is it just the normal cycle of things? Or have we really begun to see what a billion years of not giving a damn about our environment is going to look like?
Whatever you believe, take a few minutes today and recognize Earth Day. Take a look at what is around you and what we are doing each and every day to our Earth, our communities and our futures.

Earth Hour
When I got up this morning I logged onto my computer through Google. Imagine my surprise to see the screen black. In my caffeine depraved state, I determined that I was indeed on the correct page, something had just changed. (it did take me a few minutes)
Google is recognizing Earth Hour. What is Earth Hour you ask (as I did, which is why I included the link). It is one hour on March 29, 2008 when you turn off all the power in your life. From 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, in whatever time zone you live in, you turn off the power.
While Earth Day is set up to promote energy conservation, just think about what else can be accomplished.
Imagine it.
One hour spent with your loved ones without distractions.
One hour without the TV, radio, Ipod, telephone, (cell phones included) electronic games, (god forbid) computer.
One hour actually talking to each other, without fingers dashing across a keyboard on a computer or telephone.
One hour playing a game where you can actually see the person sitting across from you.
One hour finding out what is really going on in your children's lives.
One hour finding out what your spouse/significant other really thinks about the new carpet in the bedroom.
When was the last time any of us sat around, with the candles lit, just looking at each other? Will you be able to find anything at all to say?
Well, you know what Not a Grampy and I will be doing tonight, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm Eastern, Daylight Savings Time.
Yup, I think we will get some of that in also!!
