He is 4 Years Old

I started this blog to join into the blogging world. Which I thought was a bunch of fun people who would support you and join with you.

I've supported bloggers who have lost sons, needed help for their grandparents, just been good people who have been caught up in this damn recession. I've made friends that I talk to on the phone and those I have had the tremendous pleasure of being invited to their homes.

I have been a bad blogger...I blame it on FB...but I have been bouncing all over reading my friends blogs..rarely commenting (because I am doing it at work and I can get away with google reader on my computer when my boss walks in...but not your sexy header) LOL

My blog is going to change...I am in the midst of some life changing and scarey things. Things that I am not sure they are going to ever be right. The scarey part is they are not mine...they are what my 4 year old grandson, his mother and his father are going to have to learn to live with.

My 4 year old grandson has been diagnosed at Bipolar. I will share the rage incidents later, maybe. Godbless his current day care....they have been amazing, unlike the two before...

This blog is going to change, I need to be able to be there to help my daughter, her son, my SIL..and educate the rest of the world. My grandson is not a monster..he is a child with a mental health illness.
The short one in this picture...he is Bipolar. He has Rage incidents at his daycare that are scary. Rage incidents....these are not temper tantrums, these are destroying rooms, total loss of control.
He is an amazing little boy and will be an amazing person.
He is 4 years old.

Poor little man.

It is HIGHLY unusual for them to diagnose something this serious, this young.

This must be really scary for your kids, and for you too.

I will throw something out there though. The medical community is all about medicating, and not about finding the root cause and treating that. I IMPLORE you and your daughter to look into nutritional fators as well. It is a lot of work, but I have read accounts of parents turning around autism, turrets, ADD, depression and the like by eliminating things that their little bodies consider toxic.

I truly beleive that a lot of our ailments are nutritional in nature.

Hello Grandma. I am a grandmother too and unfortunately I don't live close to the grandchildren. If I did, of course I would love it.

I believe that your support of the parents will help them immensely. The children benefit from help, medical and other. But sometimes the parents worry and need support. I know you will be good at that.

Thanks Jennifer, that is one thing that I have been asking my daughter to look into. They have identified several food items that Jorden is allergic to, including all dairy products and egg whites.

Judy, thanks for stopping by. We try to give them as much support as we can. I just feel so damn helpless!

HI there, I know quite a bit about mental illness as I have two family members who suffer. First of all, it's very good that this is being treated so quickly. Early intervention is key. This does not have to define his life, there are new medications and therapies being developed all the time.
I guess what I am trying to say is that even though this is very scary, sad and unbelievable.. it is not the end for him.
There is a ton of information online (as I am sure you know) and many helpful organizations. I would suggest NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) they have local chapters everywhere and are very, very supportive.
I will hush now, sorry I made this so long! :)
feel free to email me if you ever just want to chat about any of this. I am not an expert but I do care.

I am a mother with a bipolar son and I wanted to share a website I came across called http://onlineceucredit.com/edu/social-work-ceus-bc . It offers a lot of great information about bipolar disorder in children and treating it. I hope this is helpful.

I love his deep, dark eyes... what a cutie. I hope your area has a lot of resources you can tap into. It's wonderful that you are able to be there for support. Best wishes on finding the little things that work.
