RIP George

George Carlin passed away last night.

I think he was one of the first "comedians" I ever really listened to. When I was 16 my then boyfriend had his albums and he and his friends would quote different lines, stories, routines from them all the time.

He was one of those comedians who made sense! While making you laugh you would also see the deeper side of the comedy, the sarcastic side, the side of life.

Such as this one:

"Doctors have discovered that saliva causes cancer.
But only if taken in small amounts over a long period of time."

Or how about when he talks about people who are so vehemently opposed to having a jail/prison built in their backyard?

George Carlin said, of course he would want it in his backyard. Do you really think someone who has escaped from jail is going to stick around? No way, they are going to take off and get as far away as possible.

Here are a few others:

Dusting is a good example of the futility of trying to put things right. As soon as you dust, the fact of your next dusting has already been established.

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Makes a little bit of sense doesn't it?

Of course then there are those famous 7 words that can never be used on television....

Do you know the 7 words?

I don't know them by heart, but I probably say or think each of them at least once a day.

Carlin is my favorite comedian. I even like the fact that he played the conductor/narrator for Thomas the Tank Engine.

Party On Rufus!

I'm sure I've said each of the seven words a million times over, lol.
