Toys!

For Christmas last year Not a Grampy was given a The Home Depot gift card from my parents. He actually waited until the second week in January to take it and go to The Home Depot.
So one lovely Saturday morning Not A Grampy took off on the motorcycle to go see what was there. He obviously was not looking at buying anything too big, he was on the motorcycle.

Now, I understand how a man gets when he walks into The Home Depot, I feel the same way when I get to go shoe shopping, especially when there is a sale. So I wasn't too concerned when, 3 hours later he is still not home. Did I mention that he had his cell phone with him? No, well he did.

A couple of hours later he calls and tells me he is at a Toyota dealership. Again, maybe because I was in the middle of a ton of laundry, or maybe I really wasn't listening, but I wasn't concerned.

Another hour passes and he calls again tells me he is on his way home and he has purchased a new vehicle. He traded in the motorcycle and the pick up truck sitting in our driveway. The salesperson was riding with him to pick up the truck. I just hung up the phone.

I am waiting in the driveway when he pulls up in this...

What is it, you ask. Well it is a 2004, Chevy SSR. You know those vehicles that are also a convertible? Purple. We named it the Grape Ape.

I got use to it. Really fun to drive. Two seater, tight fit I will say.

About 5 months later it was time for the SSR to get the oil changed. Not A Grampy takes the Grape Ape to the local Chevy dealer for an oil change.

I get a phone call..

I told him No...

He comes home, with pictures on his cell phone and tears in his eyes. He is following me around the house showing me pictures, interior, steering wheel, tires (like I give a damn about tire), seats. He sits beside me on the couch, staring at the pictures on his phone, sighing. Now he is pouting, I can see the eyes tearing up..

I said Fine! Get the damn thing. Last One. He actually was out of the house, skipping, before I finished.

Not A Grampy loves his new car...

And you can bet he is no longer allowed to go anywhere alone...
